This year marks a momentous occasion for the Rolex Giraglia with the celebration of both its 70th anniversary and 70th edition. The revered Mediterranean sailing event and its co-founder the Yacht Club Italiano (YCI) have both been partnered by Rolex since 1998. The YCI is supported in its efforts by the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez, another historic institution and partnered by Rolex since 2006. Defined by its spirit of camaraderie, the Rolex Giraglia is an annual event in three parts with the glamorous port of Saint-Tropez on the Côte d’Azur the focal point. The programme opens on Friday, 9 June with an arrival race from Sanremo, Italy, to Saint-Tropez. This is followed by three days of inshore racing in the Bay of Saint-Tropez. The main event is the historic 241-nautical mile (446 kilometres) offshore race, starting on Wednesday, 14 June, which sees the sizeable international fleet depart Saint-Tropez for the great maritime city of Genoa. The emblematic landmark on the course arrives at its virtual halfway mark, the majestic Giraglia Rock and lighthouse located off northern Corsica.
