Introducing the Reverso Tribute Enamel Hokusai ‘Amida Falls’, a limited edition of 10 pieces honouring the work of the 19th-century Japanese master, Katsushika Hokusai. Our Métiers Rares workshop dedicated more than 70 hours to decorate the case-back of this new timepiece with a hand-enamelled miniature reproduction of The Amida Falls in the Far Reaches of the Kisokaidō Road, from series of eight woodblock prints created by the artist in 1833–34. . To capture the power of the original image and faithfully reproduce every detail, our Master artisans had to recreate the illusion of the woodblock printing technique. Developing a special method, our enameller reproduced the characteristic bokashi effect of the subtly nuanced and graduated colours of works originally printed on paper, while also capturing the vivid blues and yellows that are a signature of Hokusai’s work. Complementing this piece of art, the dial is decorated with losange-pattern guilloché covered by green translucent Grand Feu enamel. A true work of precision and artistry.
