Truck art is a popular form of decorative art; colourful trucks feature elaborate floral patterns, indigenous motifs and calligraphy reflecting regional culture, folklore, poetry, and art from South Asia, especially from India and Pakistan.
To preserve this unique form of art and inspire the nearby community, Qatar Museums invited truck artists from India and Pakistan to create murals at Mansoura Metro Station, as part of the JEDARIART Public Art programme.
Alya Al Khalefa, curatorial assistant from the Public Art department at Qatar Museums, tells us more about this form of street art, the activation at Mansoura Metro Station and the positive impact on the surrounding area and community.

فن تزيين الشاحنات هو شكل مميّز من أشكال الفنون الزخرفية الرائجة التي تضفي جمالاً وحيوية على الشاحنات المزينة بأنماط الأزهار المتقنة والزخارف الأصلية وفن الخط. وتعكس هذه العناصر الفنية الثقافة الإقليمية، والفولكلور، والشعر، والفنون من منطقة جنوب آسيا، وخاصة من الهند وباكستان
