Crafting The Labours of Heracles – Vacheron Constantin’s Grand Complication Watches
Les Cabinotiers ‘La Quête’ – The Labours of Heracles series highlights Vacheron Constantin’s expertise in creating grand complication watches enhanced by the decorative crafts. The four single-piece edition timepieces pay homage to the eponymous Greco-Roman demi-god, each illustrating one of the 12 legendary tasks that he performed in his quest for redemption.
The intricate artistry behind each creation unites miniature grand feu enamel painting and micro-sculpture. Master artisans dedicate over 50 hours to hand-enamel the 18K white gold dials, meticulously applying up to 10 layers of enamel and firing them at extreme temperatures in order to create subtle colour variations and intricately detailed rocks, vegetation and cloud formations. In addition, each Heracles figure was hand-engraved from 18K white gold using the micro-sculpture technique for approximately 40 hours, bringing mythological tales to life with fine details.
Each dial is a living canvas, where showcasing the savoir-faire of enamellers and engravers breathe life into myth and memory.
