What can art do for the environment? What has it achieved so far? Olafur Eliasson has redefined the role of the artist (and of art) in the current era. His installations compel viewers to confront climate change and the sustainability of natural resources with an imperative urgency. HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani has been at the helm of art, culture and creative industries for the state of Qatar. She spearheaded environmental protection projects, cleaning up the desert and beaches of Qatar and developing numerous sustainability initiatives. This conversation will explore the nexus between art and the environment and what creative actors have done to combat climate change.

ماذا بوسع الفن فعله من أجل البيئة؟ ما الذي حققه حتى الآن؟ أعاد أولافور إلياسون تعريف دور الفنان (والفن) في العصر الحالي. فأعماله التركيبية تجبر المشاهدين على مواجهة تغير المناخ واستدامة الموارد الطبيعية بوصفهما ضرورة مُلحة. تتولى سعادة الشيخة المياسة بنت حمد آل ثاني قيادة الفنون، والثقافة والصناعات الإبداعية في دولة قطر، إذ ترأست مشاريع حماية البيئة، وحملات تنظيف صحراء قطر وشواطئها وأعدت العديد من مبادرات الاستدامة. ستسبر هذه المحادثة أغوار الصلة التي تجمع الفن بالبيئة وما فعله المبدعون لمكافحة تغير المناخ.
