What role does location play in the reading and enjoyment of a work of art? How does physical context change its meaning? It is often said that works of public art have the potential to increase social well-being and even elicit social change, and many are frequently placed in urban neighborhoods as experiments in “art intervention.” Starting from the latest works in the Qatari desert, this panel will reflect on the locations of public art and their capacity to shape a community’s identity.

ما هو الدور الذي يلعبه الموقع في قراءة عمل فني ما والاستمتاع به؟ كيف يغير الإطار المادي مدلوله؟ كثيرًا ما يُقال إن بمقدور أعمال الفن العام زيادة الرفاه الاجتماعي وإحداث تغيير اجتماعي أيضًا، لهذا ثُبِّت العديد منها في الأحياء الحضرية كتجارب في “التدخل الفني”. انطلاقًا من أحدث الأعمال في الصحراء القطرية، ستدرس حلقة النقاش هذه مواقع الفن العام وقدرتها على تشكيل هوية المجتمعات.
