Art Basel in Basel is set to captivate art enthusiasts with its prestigious fair, showcasing contemporary art from over 280 leading galleries representing 36 countries and territories. As the Global Lead Partner for almost 30 years, UBS presents an immersive program that expands beyond the fairgrounds.
At the UBS Art Studio, visitors can explore ‘Very volcanic over this green feather (blue bird)’ (2021), an acquisition from the UBS Art Collection by Petrit Halilaj. This artwork, part of a larger installation, reflects the artist’s childhood drawings from the Albanian Kukës II refugee camp, fusing challenging scenes with birds and fantastical visions. The UBS Lounge features the UBS Art Collection presentation, ‘Reimagining: New Perspectives,’ showcasing recently acquired artworks.
During the fair, the UBS Art Collection hosts a public panel, ‘A Body of Work,’ featuring Alicja Kwade, Xaviera Simmons, and Sandra Mujinga, discussing themes of identity and representation. Parcours, Art Basel’s Public sector, presents 24 site-specific installations, including Melike Kara’s immersive piece at the UBS branch Aeschenvorstadt.
Don’t miss Julian Charrière’s drone film ‘Controlled Burn’ and Laure Prouvost’s video work ‘No More Front Tears.’ The city of Basel joins the excitement with a week-long cultural program, while Art Basel’s Online Viewing Rooms offer an expanded experience for art lovers worldwide
