Unveiling the 1931 Polo Club | Jaeger-LeCoultre

Celebrating the origins of the Reverso, the 1931 Polo Club pays tribute to the world of polo that inspired its creation and captures the spirit of its time. The decade that culminated in the birth of this unique timepiece was an age of unprecedented economic boom and technological innovation; a period of radical social and cultural change that gave birth to new fashions in clothing and music, and generated an entirely new aesthetic movement: Art Deco. It was a time when sport evolved from athletic activity into leisure pursuit, and sporting clubs became a hub of social life all over the world. It was in this milieu that, in India during the British Raj of 1858-1947, a challenge was set by polo-playing military officers to create a watch that could withstand the rigours of the polo field. The Reverso was the answer โ€“ a unique solution to a practical need, which today stands as an icon of Art Deco design.
