The Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative – Passing on artistic heritage across generations

In 2002, Rolex established the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative to encourage the transmission of artistic knowledge. Over the years, the programme has transformed the lives of promising young artists by pairing them with gifted masters in their discipline for a period of creative, one-to-one exchange that allows them to learn, create and grow. This unique corporate funding of rising stars in a variety of artistic disciplines – architecture, dance, film, literature, music, theatre, visual arts and a variable “open category” covering interdisciplinary pursuits – reflects Rolex’s long association with exceptional men and women and its tradition of supporting individual excellence. It also mirrors the vision and values of the brand’s founder, Hans Wilsdorf. Many of the protégés have gone on to become artistic leaders in their own right, with mentors similarly invigorated in their art through the close collaboration with younger professionals.
