A refit story: How we converted Carinthia VII from private to commercial use.
Refit is a core business for Lürssen and we have worked on more than a dozen 70m+ yachts in the past 12 months, including the 97m Carinthia VII which we presented at the 2023 Monaco Yacht Show.
Carinthia VII was a complex project, completed in a compressed 300-day time period, as we converted the 97m yacht from private to commercial use. Despite being impeccably maintained, there were many technical aspects of Carinthia VII that were not up to current standards. Bringing any yacht into class is challenging, let alone a yacht that is almost two decades old.
The most visible changes include a new state-of-the-art gym on her bridge deck and a large 11m swimming pool installed on her main deck aft. She also features many new interior and exterior restyling, yet we preserved many elements of her original and iconic design.
With three shipyards, an array of covered sheds and drydocks and a manpower of over 1,800 people, including over 450 engineers and naval architects, Lürssen can build new yachts and transform existing ones alongside each other, using the same skilled workers and machinery, and dedicating the same facilities and expertise as they would to a brand new Lürssen.
