In the final episode of Beyond the Blueprint, Studio De Voogt designer Matt Bacon presents his colleague Jan Schaffers with the most ambitious challenge yet: to envision the largest private owner’s retreat he has ever designed. A secluded haven where the owner can disconnect from the world, embrace total tranquility, and enjoy panoramic views over endless horizons. To achieve this, Jan reveals he has a bold design trick up his sleeve. A clever, unconventional solution that makes use of a surprising area of the yacht to dramatically expand the sense of space.
Seeking inspiration from Feadship’s heritage, Jan and Matt travel to the south of France to explore one of Feadship’s classic yachts. There, they study how earlier generations of designers created an incredible feeling of openness and elegance, even within more compact dimensions compared to today’s superyachts.
This video is part of the Beyond the Blueprint series, where Feadship’s own design team challenges themselves to dream up bold new ideas, sketching them on the spot. In each episode, the designers travel to a place that sparks or strengthens their vision. Ultimately, they present their buildable concepts, striving to surprise one another with fresh, and sometimes revolutionary, ideas that just might shape the future of luxury yachting.
