Superyacht designer envisions his own ultimate yacht | Beyond the Blueprint

]Today is Studio De Voogt designer Jan Schaffers’ lucky day. Normally devoted to crafting Feadship yachts for clients, this time he unleashes his creativity to envision his own ultimate yacht. To show his fellow designer Matt Bacon how an owner’s personality and passions can be translated into a floating masterpiece, Jan takes him to Cap d’Antibes in the south of France, where legendary marine biologist Jacques Cousteau once transformed a World War II minesweeper into the ultimate research vessel. Jan’s final concept unites his two great loves: yacht design and windsurfing. On this imagined yacht, he could perfect his designs to his heart’s content, and then step straight onto a board to ride the wind and waves.

This video is part of the Beyond the Blueprint series, where Feadship’s own design team challenges themselves to dream up bold new ideas, sketching them on the spot. In each episode, the designers travel to a place that sparks or strengthens their vision. Ultimately, they present their buildable concepts, striving to surprise one another with fresh, and sometimes revolutionary, ideas that just might shape the future of luxury yachting.
