Superyacht designer creates a yacht using organic shapes | Beyond the Blueprint

Studio De Voogt designer Thijs Orth presents his Dunes concept to lead designer Tanno Weeda. In his own words, the design is inspired by “the masterpieces sculpted by the forces of nature.” His groundbreaking superyacht concept embraces organic forms and integrates state-of-the-art technology. The designers also discuss the future of building materials that push the boundaries of what’s possible today. To reveal the source of his inspiration, Thijs takes Tanno to the Dutch dunes just outside Amsterdam—a serene landscape that holds more than a few hidden secrets.

This video is part of the Beyond the Blueprint series, where Feadship’s own design team challenges themselves to dream up bold new ideas, sketching them on the spot. In each episode, the designers travel to a place that sparks or strengthens their vision. Ultimately, they present their buildable concepts, striving to surprise one another with fresh, and sometimes revolutionary, ideas that just might shape the future of luxury yachting.
