In SailGP, the stakes are always high. Racing at high speeds brings inherent risk but also the promise of soaring success. This global championship features the sport’s best athletes racing in identical foiling F50 catamarans on world famous stretches of water. National teams, helmed by some of the most decorated sailors competing today, battle it out in short, intense races, reaching speeds of up to 100km/h. Season 3 delivered more exhilarating racing before its dramatic conclusion in May. The Australia SailGP Team secured a third successive title after prevailing in the winner-takes-all Grand Final on San Francisco Bay, although this time by the most slender of margins from New Zealand and Great Britain. The season was notable also for the pivotal role played by women team members, among them, Hannah Mills of Great Britain, giving further impetus to SailGP’s women’s pathway programme that aims to promote gender equity and accelerate change in the sport. This highly competitive championship has been supported by Rolex since its debut in 2019 as part of its partnership with yachting dating back more than 60 years.
