Romulus Whitaker – A quest to save India’s rainforests

Romulus Whitaker turned a lifelong interest in reptiles, especially the king cobra, into a six decades’ long career of protecting the environment in his adoptive country of India. The 2008 Rolex Awards for Enterprise Laureate established the Agumbe Rainforest Research Station in India’s Western Ghats mountain range in 2005, which has since become a base for research on rainforest ecology and water conservation. With his Award funding he founded three other research stations across the country. He was also instrumental in initiating a number of NGOs concerned with saving the natural world − from snakes to crocodiles. Discover more https://on.rolex.org/3uZjSZd
