Rolex TP52 World Championship 2022 – Preview

The annual Rolex TP52 World Championship is considered the Grand Prix of monohull racing. Partnered by Rolex since 2017, the competition demands excellence in teamwork from highly motivated owners to the leading professional sailing talent onboard. This year’s Championship returns to Cascais on the Portuguese Atlantic Coast, a region renowned for offering diverse and challenging sailing conditions. From 21-25 June across five days of competition and up to ten races, ultra-prepared and determined crews will contest the coveted World Championship crown. The event demands consistent performances in a pressurized environment. Action takes place on compressed windward/leeward race courses where the battle to exert supremacy is intense at every key juncture including the race start and mark roundings. Effective teamwork is crucial, all crew members need full mastery of their role – from bow to pit, trimmers to tactician precision is required. The defending champion is Takashi Okura’s Sled from the United States. Retaining their crown will be a true test. All ten teams are capable of winning races and in recent years the leading teams have been separated by just a few points. Discover more https://on.rolex.com/3Hh4tc5
