Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2025 – Challenging Conditions Persist

The second day of the 2025 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race delivered a continuation to the punishing seaway that persisted overnight. The winds may not have been as strong as originally feared, but pushing upwind into a southerly swell for an extended period has tested resilience, morale and preparation. Weaknesses have been exposed and by early evening some 15 yachts had retired through equipment failure or crew fatigue as the difficult conditions take their toll. The contest for both line honours and the overall win under time correction remain in the balance, and for those with ambition to claim the race’s major trophies the pressure is on to maintain performance at the highest level.

Title Sponsor since 2002, the partnership which Rolex enjoys with the race and its organizer, the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, forms a key cornerstone of the Swiss watchmaker’s near 70-year-long association with yachting. Discover more https://on.rolex.com/4sktvOA
