Rolex presents: Miranda Wang – Rethinking plastic

As part of the Perpetual Planet Initiative, Rolex Awards Laureate Miranda Wang invented a way to break down formerly unrecyclable plastics into reusable elements. Now, she has shown it can work on an industrial scale. Wang’s first-of-its-kind demonstration plant turns low-value plastic waste, like shopping bags and shampoo bottles, into high-value material. By tackling problems with traditional recycling and our reliance on brand-new plastics from fossil fuels, Wang is taking us closer to a circular economy in the plastics industry.
