Rolex Perpetual Planet Initiative – Mission Blue: Exmouth Gulf and Ningaloo Coast Hope Spot

Beneath the turquoise waters of Australia’s World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Coast is one of the planet’s largest fringing coral reefs. Although highly protected and recognized for its biodiversity, many of its animals depend on a less-protected area on the other side of the cape: Exmouth Gulf. Mission Blue Hope Spot Champion Ben Fitzpatrick has led his team on an expedition to the gulf’s unexplored waters. Using the latest technology in drones and underwater photography, they are surveying its incredibly biodiverse wildlife and proving how important the area is to the region and to the nearby Ningaloo Reef.
