Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative Fellow: Jason Akira Somma


When New York artist Jason Akira Somma decided to explore the art of dance, he had the good fortune in 2008 to be selected as protégé to eminent Czech-born choreographer Jiří Kylián through the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative. The result was a highly creative and productive artistic friendship that continues to this day. The mentoring programme holds a special place within the Perpetual Arts Initiative that plays a tangible role in promoting excellence and the future of the arts.
