Singer/composer Aurelio Martínez of Honduras is devoted to Garifuna culture that fuses African and Caribbean roots. His dream was to visit Africa and discover the music of his ancestors. Thanks to the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative, his dream came true in 2008 when he became protégé to one of Africa’s musical superstars, Senegal’s Youssou N’Dour, and performed with him onstage.
