The historic 70th edition of the Rolex Giraglia offshore race reserved an epic contest for line honours. Peter Harburg’s Australian Maxi Black Jack 100 crossed the finish line in Genoa at 11:33:16 CEST on Thursday, 15 June in an elapsed time of 23 hours, 30 minutes and 16 seconds. The quest to be first to finish proved enthralling with a number of Maxi yachts in contention. Second to finish was Magic Carpet Cubed. The three-time Rolex Giraglia line honours winner completed the 215-nautical mile (398 kilometre) course just under ten minutes after Black Jack 100. The spotlight now turns to who from the 155-strong fleet will prevail to claim overall victory on handicap.
