The 50th edition of Rolex Fastnet Race has witnessed a series of record-breaking achievements. First posting the largest-ever fleet to cross the start line then, on the second day, the 32 metre (105 foot) French trimaran, SVR Lazartigues, was the first boat to finish bettering the previous outright race record for the 695nm course by 36 minutes. Some 24 hours later, the 18m French IMOCA 60, Macif, was the first single-hulled yacht to reach Cherbourg, breaking the previous monohull record by one hour and 15 minutes. The Rolex Fastnet Race is organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club and has been partnered by Rolex since 2001.
