Mars has always been an inspiring subject for Pharrell—beautiful and poetic, related to time and space, and an all-new concept for a singular watch. He envisioned the RM 52-05 as an homage to this extraordinary planet, brought to life in collaboration with an engraver, an enameller, and a painter.
Released in 2019, this scene worthy of a science-fiction movie unfolds within a tourbillon calibre constructed from titanium and blue aventurine glass. Pharrell’s vision is uniquely expressed in the titanium visor of the astronaut’s helmet, where a glowing Earth as seen from Mars, setting amongst a sea of golden stars.
As a true lover of sapphire, Pharrell hoped to admire the calibre through sapphire walls, a wish fulfilled by the brand, which replaced the brown cermet case with an entirely sapphire structure. This innovation offers a view akin to peering at Mars through the porthole of an extraordinary timepiece spaceship.
