Explore Falcon (2021) by Tom Claassen, on view outside the Departures Hall at Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar.
The work is an abstract representation of Qatar’s national bird. Taking inspiration from the falcon’s soft feathers, the sculpture’s vivid curves echo the aviation routes from Qatar to the rest of the world, while also drawing inspiration from Arabic calligraphy and the folds found in the fabric of traditional Qatari attire.

استلهم الفنان ملمس المنحوتة من ريش الصقر الناعم، وهو من الطيور التي لها ارتباط تاريخي ووطني في دولة قطر. وتجسد المنحنيات البارزة في المنحوتة أيضاً مسارات الطيران التي تنطلق من قطر إلى كافة أنحاء العالم، وانحناءات الخط العربي، وطيّات الملابس التقليدية القطرية.
