Japan’s Yusaku Maezawa is a man of many interests – he’s made his mark as an entrepreneur, space traveler, fashion magnate, and former indie band drummer. But foremost among his passions is art. As a prolific collector, he counts in his collection works by Yoshimoto Nara, Yayoi Kusama, Bruce Nauman, Alexander Calder, Jeff Koons, and Basquiat. In 2012, he founded Tokyo’s Contemporary Art Foundation which aims to support young artists and musicians in their development. Maezawa called in from Tokyo to talk about some of his favorite works in the Art Basel Hong Kong 2022 Online Viewing Rooms (OVR).
