New Artwork Captures 60 Years of McLaren

Sixty years after legendary engineer and driver Bruce McLaren founded his racing team, a very special piece of art has been unveiled at the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC). Painted over a five-month period by Hungarian artist Anton Molnar, this spectacular 5 x 2 metre canvas recognises the marque’s incredible history, and features many of McLaren’s most successful cars and drivers.

The project began with a rough sketch on a restaurant napkin, and from the start it was decided that Bruce McLaren’s first racing car (a humble Austin 7) and this year’s McLaren MCL60 Formula 1 car should take starring roles – representing McLaren’s heritage and the advances in technology over the last six decades.

“The aim of the piece was really to bring all of McLaren’s passion and history to life on the canvas,” explains Anton. “A lot of research went into making sure I did justice to an incredible brand.”

Molnar’s work will now go on permanent display at the McLaren Technology Centre, capturing the spirit of 2023 and those 60th anniversary celebrations.
