Najla El Zein (b.1983, Beirut) is a French-Lebanese artist and designer. Her artworks explore the relationship between form, use, space and emotion through themes relating to the abstract conceptions of the body, femininity and human relations. Najla El Zein has had her work acquired and exhibited at numerous public institutions.
“Us, Her, Him” is a site-specific installation located at the Flag Plaza, the entrance gate of the Doha Cultural District – a space intended to unify and celebrate individuals of all nationalities. Composed of a series of sculptural benches which span over 313 meters of hand-sculpted limestone. The installation is an abstract reflection on human interactions, which conveys the complexity and fundamental importance of human connections. Illustrating various modes and strata of interaction such as acquaintances, friendships, love, introversion, confidence, familiarity, fluidity, and obstruction. “Us, Her, Him” reminds us that collectively is the true root and driving force of individual fulfilment. The sculptures, which are functional and to be interacted with, are meant to bring women, men and children together while leading the pathway into the Flag Plaza and the Doha Cultural District. This is El Zein’s first public installation and the most ambitious work to date.”

نجلاء الزين (مواليد 1983، بيروت) هي فنانة ومصممة فرنسية – لبنانية. تعكس أعمالها الفنية الصلة بين الشكل، والوظيفة، الحركة و الفناء، من خلال مفاهيم تجريدية تتعلق بالجسد والأنوثة والعلاقات الإنسانية. عرضت أعمال نجلاء الزين في العديد من المؤسسات العامة حول العالم. يعتبرالعمل الفني “”نَحنُ، هِيَ، هو””
أول عمل فني عام للفنانة الزين ومن أكثرأعمالها طموحاً.
“”نَحنُ، هِيَ، هوَ”” عمل فني ينتمي للفن العام، يتكون من سلسلة مقاعد من الحجر الجيري منحوتة يدوياً تمتد على اكثر من 313 متراً، وهو انعكاس مجرد للتفاعلات البشرية، والذي ينقل بدوره مدى أهمية العلاقات الجوهرية بين البشر بتعقيداتها. وبتوضيح الأنماط والأساليب المتعددة، والتعبير عن مفاهيم مختلفة، كالمعارف والصداقات، الحب، الانطوائية، الثقة، الألفة، الانسيابية أوعدمها. “”نَحنُ، هِيَ، هوَ”” يذكرنا بأن الجماعة هي الجذر الحقيقي والقوة الدافعة لإنجازات الفرد. القطع الفنية في هذا العمل والتي تبدو في ظاهرها للجلوس فقط، هي تحمل معنى اجتماع الكبير والصغير، رجالاً، نساءً وأطفالاً اثناء السير سويةً في الطريق المؤدي الى ساحة الأعلام.”
