Mount Everest: 70 Years of Legacy

The first ascent of Mount Everest occurred 70 years ago, when Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay reached the summit of the world’s highest peak. The Himalayan Trust and the Tenzing Norgay Sherpa Foundation are the result of decades of commitment. On 29 May 2023, the families of the two iconic mountaineers gather to inaugurate two cultural centres in the Everest region that are dedicated to supporting Sherpa communities.
