Les Cabinotiers Tribute to the Tour de l’Île – Engraving
Each of the three one-of-one pieces that make up the anniversary Tour de L’Île trio from Les Cabinotiers workshop showcases a technique foundational to Geneva’s watchmaking heritage, a legacy to which Vacheron Constantin has contributed without interruption for 270 years.
Here, an 18th century engraving reproduced in bas-relief brings out depth of field on an 18K 5N pink gold dial plate. This painstaking technique involves cutting away all unwanted material from the design to create a trompe-l’oeil effect. Meticulously reproducing the artist’s drawing to the smallest detail on a plate 1 mm thick, this work of art required 140 hours of effort.
