Installation artist Tolia Astakhishvili, a winner of the 2024 CHANEL Next Prize

The 2024 CHANEL Next Prize winner Tolia Astakhishvili is an interdisciplinary artist from Tbilisi, Georgia.

Astakhishvili creates large-scale architectural interventions that combine video, sound, archival footage and found material. Her creations often incorporate the works of other artists, a collaborative process that combines Astakhishvili’s personal narrative with collective stories.

Astakhishvili’s recent solo exhibitions include The First Finger (chapter II) (2023) at the Haus am Waldsee, The First Finger at the Bonner Kunstverein (2023) and I Think it’s Closed at the Bielefelder Kunstverein (2023), all in Germany. Her first solo exhibition in the US will open at SculptureCenter in Queens, New York, in 2024.
