In the Library with Ken Bugul— CHANEL and Literature


On the occasion of the 2022/23 Métiers d’art CHANEL – DAKAR show that was held on December 6th 2022 at Dakar’s former Palais de Justice in Senegal, writer Ken Bugul opens up about her relationship to reading. She evokes how literature contributed to the construction of her identity, especially through the first book she read, “La mare au diable” by George Sand. The writer also reflects on how she identifies with Dostoïevski’s and Tolstoï’s characters to the point that she considers books as part of her family.
