Ever noticed almost every watch ad shows 10 past 10 on the dial?

The tradition began in the 1950s. The most common belief is that 10:10 shows the dial of the analogue or mechanical watch in the best possible way – with the brand name in focus. Some scientists deduced 10:10 has the aesthetic of a smiley face, compared to 8:20, which looks like a frown.

October 10 or 10.10.25 marks the first edition of #WorldWatchDay, echoing the traditional display of 10:10 on watch dials – a quiet symbol of balance, beauty, and joy in timekeeping. In the spirit of shared celebration, Dubai Watch Week is honoured to commemorate this special day. Join us in honouring the art of time.
