Elina Chauvet on Her Performance Piece for Dior Cruise 2024

Mexican feminist artist Elina Chauvet shares the story behind “A Corazón Abierto,” her performance piece for the finale of the Dior Cruise 2024 show, themed around femicide, and referencing the untimely disappearance of Italian artist Pippa Bacca. Emerging silently in the central courtyard of Colegio de San Ildefonso in Mexico City, 20 white toiles from the House’s 1954 collection were embroidered in red thread with words and imagery denouncing femicide in a powerful yet poetic manner.
