Experts from leading institutional and corporate collections provide valuable insights into the collecting strategies of diverse organizations. They explore the challenges and opportunities in building and maintaining significant art collections, as well as the impact on brand identity and public engagement.

Cathérine Hug holds an MA in art history and has been a curator at Kunsthaus Zürich since 2013, where she has been responsible for retrospectives devoted to Francis Picabia (2016), co-curated with Anne Umland (MoMA, New York); Oskar Kokoschka (2018), co-curated with Heike Eipeldauer (Leopold Museum, Vienna); Suzanne Duchamp (2025), co-curated with Talia Kwartler and Ingrid Pfeiffer (Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt); and Lygia Clark (2025) co-curated with Irina Grund and Maike Steinkamp (Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin). Among Hug’s many thematic shows are ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ (2019); ‘Take Care: Art and Medicine’ (2022); and ‘Time. From Dürer to Bonvicini’ (2023).

With her team she has realized exhibition projects at the Studio Odeonsplatz in Munich; the Mercedes-Benz Museum; and Espacio CDMX in Mexico City. From 2017 to 2023 she was curator at the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart. There, in addition to post-1945 art, she was in charge of the Otto Dix and Fritz Winter collections and curated the special exhibitions ‘Patrick Angus: Private Show’; ‘Ecstasy’; ‘WÄNDE | WALLS’; ‘From 1914 till Ukraine’; ‘Wolfgang Laib: The Beginning of Something Else’; and ‘Look at the People!’. From 2014 to 2016, she worked at the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden in the area of research and scientific cooperation. Previously, she was research assistant to the director at the Kunsthalle Mannheim, where she also completed her traineeship. Vieth studied art history, German language and literature, and Spanish literature in Hamburg, where she completed her doctorate in art history. Her research focuses on Classical Modernism and contemporary art.
