Ruthie connects with Jon Gray, co-founder of Ghetto Gastro, a culinary collective working at the intersection of food, design, and art that challenges perceptions of the Bronx – the place Jon calls home. In 2022, Ghetto Gastro published the Black Power Kitchen, which is as much a cooking manual as it is a manifesto of the organization’s decade-long mission: to bring the Bronx to the world, and the world to the Bronx, with food as the portal. Together Jon and Ruthie discuss legacy, community, and the power of partnership and collaboration.
