Catherine Deneuve in conversation with Christophe Honoré — Cannes 2024 — CHANEL and Cinema

In keeping with its commitment to film creation, CHANEL supports Christophe Honoré’s film “Marcello Mio”, which has been selected for the Official Competition at this year’s edition of the Cannes Film Festival. CHANEL has accompanied the production of the film, namely through costumes specially designed by the House in collaboration with costume designer Pascaline Chavanne for actress Catherine Deneuve.

The film’s screenplay, with its mischievous mix of the real and the fake, brings to life a gallery of imaginary characters who have the same first names as the prestigious actors who play them: Chiara Mastroianni is Chiara, Catherine Deneuve is Catherine. For his fourteen full-length feature film, the director has chosen to tell the story of Chiara, embodied by Chiara Mastroianni, who decides to revive her father, the Italian actor Marcello Mastroianni, through herself.

On this occasion, Christophe Honoré and Catherine Deneuve talk about their collaboration, the importance of costumes to get into a role and the boundary between reality and fiction.
