Frank Laupman / Omega Architects designed Heesen’s 50m semi-displacement series, and Book Ends encapsulates the series’ elegant
exterior lines. The yacht’s superstructure — which aligns with the
yacht’s actual center of gravity — affects a visually balanced and
aesthetically pleasing profile. This integrated hull and body design
was initially introduced on the 213-foot (65-meter) Galactica Star
launched in 2013. Book Ends’ clean exterior profile is accentuated
by chiseled, sharp edges adorning all surfaces.
Book Ends has been meticulously cared for by her American owner — a long-standing Heesen client — who defines his yacht as a race car in the superyacht world. Book Ends reaches an impressive top speed of 23 knots,
aligning with Heesen’s sporty DNA.
What drives this superyacht is not brute power but astute engineering and Heesen’s unique ability to weld lightweight aluminum hulls to the finest tolerances. Heesen’s in-house team created an ultra-efficient V-shaped hull boasting a seven-foot reduced draft, which makes Book Ends the ideal
yacht for island hopping in the shallow waters of the Bahamas or fast cruising in the Mediterranean. So that one could easily have breakfast in Monaco and lunch in Portofino!
Italian designer Cristiano Gatto created the interior of Book Ends,
which Heesen Yachts Interiors’ fine cabinet makers then masterfully
built. Book Ends’ interior is a testament to Heesen’s ability
to combine precious veneers and intricate metal detailing.
The precision of the details and the quality of the construction
exude a sense of understated luxury.
The owner, an experienced yachtsman with a keen eye for design and contemporary aesthetics, personalized his yacht by designing the loose furniture for both indoor and outdoor spaces and selecting the artwork onboard.
