Behind the scenes of Art Basel: The making of the Messeplatz project

Created using an industrial spray gun and brightly coloured paints, Katharina Grosse’s large-scale painting ‘CHOIR’ disrupts the familiar space of Messeplatz to offer a new, unexpected reality.

Through the use of highly visible shades of magenta, Grosse immerses visitors in a direct bodily experience in which they are simultaneously looking at the work and becoming part of it, like participants in an unscripted performance.
