The idea behind the RM 027 was to bring a tourbillon onto the court, one capable of withstanding the intense shocks endured during hours of play, where forces can reach several hundred g’s while remaining exceptionally lightweight and comfortable to wear. This presented a true challenge for any tourbillon movement.
From this demanding set of specifications, the brand developed the RM 027 Tourbillon in close collaboration with Rafael Nadal. The whole of its mechanical architecture, weighing just 3.8 grams, was skillfully designed and constructed in taut suspension on a network of shock absorbers anchored in the case.
Thanks to a highly skeletonised movement made from titanium and LITAL® alloy, and a case crafted from carbon composite, the RM 027 weighed less than 20 grams including its strap. A world record at the time, and still one of the lightest tourbillon watches ever created.
