‘Bamboo 1947: Then and Now’ with Daido Moriyama

Celebrating 60 years since the House’s first introduction in Japan in 1964, the House presents ‘Bamboo 1947: Then and Now’ at Gucci Ginza Gallery in Tokyo, a special project involving Japanese traditional artisans and contemporary artists selected by Creative Director Sabato De Sarno to reimagine 60 vintage Bamboo 1947 bags.

Adorning the silhouettes with his iconic imagery, photographer Daido Moriyama’s dynamic, high-contrast photographs—spanning cityscapes and intimate portraits—bring a striking visual impact to each reimagined Bamboo 1947 bag.
