Arun Krishnamurthy – Reviving India’s blighted lakes

Determined from an early age to revive and protect the waterbodies near his home in Chennai, 2012 Rolex Awards for Enterprise Laureate Arun Krishnamurthy gave up a promising career at Google to devote his life to rejuvenating the lakes in his native India and beyond. Since launching the Environmentalist Foundation of India (EFI) in 2007, he has mobilized thousands of people, including scores of young volunteers, to help clean, restore and rehabilitate some 164 of India’s lakes that have long been subject to pollution and the impacts of climate change. Krishnamurthy credits the Award with boosting his resolve to help safeguard the environment, as manifest in Rolex’s Perpetual Planet initiative. Discover more https://on.rolex.org/3IlOY13
