Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex, created the first waterproof wristwatch and later the self-winding mechanism with a Perpetual rotor. He tackled the most complex technical challenges, determined to solve them with the utmost simplicity. As this 1946 advertisement shows, his was a story of endeavour with an accent on the importance of delivering a practical watch that could go, simply everywhere.
