ALUSIC®, short for ALUminium–SIlicon–Carbide, is an alloy made by centrifuging an aluminum-silicon alloy reinforced with silicon carbide (SiC) particles. It offers exceptional rigidity, lightness, and wear resistance.
Originally developed for satellite construction, this rare and costly alloy—boasting a density of 2.95—combines extreme strength with minimal weight. Creating the first ALUSIC® watch case required four years of R&D from Richard Mille’s technical teams.
Used exclusively for the RM 009, it pushed machining limits and paved the way for Richard Mille to shape materials once thought impossible to work with.
