Haegue Yang lives and works in Berlin and Seoul. One of the most significant artists of her generation, Yang’s practice spans a wide range of media and cross-cultural references, offering a holistic approach to overlooked everyday objects. Yang’s anthropomorphic sculptures often play with the notion of ‘the folk’ as a cultural idea, while also attempting to transcend it as a mere tradition of specific cultures.
Yung Ma is Senior Curator at the Hayward Gallery in London. He served as the Artistic Director of the 11th Seoul Mediacity Biennale (2021). He was previously Curator, Contemporary Art and Prospective Creation at the Centre Pompidou, Paris and Associate Curator, Moving Image at M+, Hong Kong.
This talk will be conducted in English, with simultaneous interpretation available in Cantonese and Mandarin.
The Art Basel Hong Kong 2024 Conversations program is curated by Stephanie Bailey.
