Great Spine of Africa Expeditions: Cassai River – Ep. 1

Rolex Perpetual Planet Initiative partner and National Geographic Explorer Steve Boyes has undertaken a journey like no other, as part of his Great Spine of Africa Expeditions. Boyes and his team ventured into the unexplored waters of the Angolan Highlands to trace the origins of a major tributary of the Congo River. By following the water as it filters from the sponge-like peatlands, known as “natural water towers”, into a narrow stream, before joining the flow of the Cassai River, his team documented a key source of Africa’s water to prove it needs urgent protection.
