‘Bamboo 1947: Then and Now’ with Hirotsune Nakazato

Six Japanese traditional artisans and contemporary artists were chosen by Creative Director Sabato De Sarno to reimagine 60 vintage Bamboo 1947 bags in ‘Bamboo 1947: Then and Now,’ a special exhibition celebrating 60 years since the House’s official introduction in Japan at Gucci Ginza Gallery in Tokyo.

Recreating the bamboo handles and closures of 10 vintage Bamboo 1947 bags in ceramic, renowned ceramist Hirotsune Nakazato has used meticulous hand-building methods to achieve the perfect balance of durability and aesthetic appeal.
