‘Bamboo 1947: Then and Now’ with Nami Yokoyama

Celebrating 60 years of Gucci in Japan, the special exhibition at Gucci Ginza Gallery in Tokyo features 60 vintage Bamboo 1947 bags reimagined by Japanese traditional artisans and contemporary artists selected by Creative Director Sabato De Sarno.

Adapting her Neon series to the leather bags, painter Nami Yokoyama has employed traditional grisaille techniques to meticulously layer paint on the Bamboo 1947 bags, adding a sophisticated layer of light and shadow.
