2024 Rolex National Geographic Explorer of the Year – Fernando Trujillo

Colombian marine biologist Fernando Trujillo is renowned for his work protecting the Amazon’s pink dolphins and the river system that is their home. The recipient of the 2024 Rolex National Geographic Explorer of the Year award, he has worked closely with local communities to create a conservation programme for the Amazon through its dolphins. He also coordinates international commitments to protect them. Trujillo was a key player when the 2023 Global Agreement to Protect River Dolphins was signed by 11 countries in Asia and South America. He recently surveyed Amazon rivers across four countries as a member of the multi-year Rolex and National Geographic Perpetual Planet Amazon Expedition. Discover more https://on.rolex.org/4aBQeeQ
