Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative Fellow: Edem Awumey

When young writer Edem Awumey, from Togo, was selected in 2006 as protégé to distinguished Moroccan man of letters Tahar Ben Jelloun through the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative, he had one novel to his credit. Now he has published six and gained international recognition. The mentorship has helped him realize he is part of a literary continuum.
